Katherine Loughrey-Stemp, BSN, RN
Jefferson County Coroner
Colorado has one of the highest per capita suicide rates in the country. These deaths are devastating for the survivors and are preventable. Katherine will continue to work with existing groups to help lower the number of suicides in Jefferson County.
As a nurse, Katherine believes in education and prevention. She works not only on suicide prevention but she is also working to decrease other types of preventable deaths, including accidents.
Nurses are uniquely trained to work with individuals. They are also noted for their compassion. Katherine has helped patients and families through some of the worst times of their lives.
She understands grief, not just as a nurse, but on a very personal level. Katherine is a widow and understands how difficult it is when you lose someone suddenly. She will use this background to help others through their difficult times.
